In the Afro-Brazilian Candomblé tradition, the Orixás (oh-ree-sha-s) are spirits in human form – our puppet Oxumaré is the rainbow Orixa – and our music, dance, beautiful costumes and puppets give your guests a glimpse of this ancient, colourful belief-system.
Journey of the Orixas comprises of African percussive phrasing and dance, Afro-Brazilian Carnival traditions, visual arts, and lost praise songs of age-old African gods, and often engages over 150 participants from across the UK.
At the inaugural performance, at The Manchester Day Parade, we brought together over 150 participants from across the UK to learn and share culminating in a magnificent Carnival spectacle.
