(This class is open to all players that have previous experience of playing hand drums) 

 

Brush up your timbau skills with this top-up timbau technique and grooves course from Global Grooves. Led by Leon Patel, participants will study basic and advanced techniques, common rhythms and grooves, solo phrasing and how to devise and build your own timbau solos. This class is open to all that have previous experience of playing hand drums. Understanding of tone, slap and bass is essential. If you have never played the timbau before, this course will also suit those who have played instruments such as conga, and djembe.

 

Instruments: Some instruments can be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own if they have them.

 

Cost: £10 per workshop

 

Numbers limited to 9 participants per class, first come first served. If interest level is high, more classes may be scheduled. 

 

Booking and payment in full in advance of the class is essential. 

 

Venue: The Vale, Unit 2 Vale Mill, Micklehurst Road, Mossley, 0L5 9JL

 

Parking is available, and Mossley train station is 15 minutes walk from the venue. 

 

Covid notes: 

 

  • In the event of lockdowns affecting your ability to attend or Global Grooves’ ability to deliver the class, your workshop voucher will be valid for another masterclass within 6 months of the scheduled class date. 
  • Please bring your own drinks or flasks where possible as we will not be providing refreshments. 
  • Our toilet will of course be open for use, but we ask that all participants make use of hand washing, hand sanitiser, and cleaning wipes for communal areas. 
  • If you arrive very early for a class we will need to ask you to wait outside or in your car until the suggested entry time – many thanks for your understanding.
