Following on from a brilliant workshop last year, Global Grooves are pleased to announce an exciting new workshop to enjoy and explore Afro-Brazilian dance with Adriana Rosso. This class is for anyone who is curious about Brazilian dance and culture. Come along and enjoy dancing to live music, and have fun in a Brazilian way! This class is perfect for beginners, improvers or more advanced dancers. Afro-Brazilian dance fuses traditional rhythms and swing from all over Brazil. The participants will have an opportunity to explore dance styles such as Samba, Samba-Reggae, Maracatu, Frevo, Axe, Coco, Maxixe, Caboclinho, Orixá Dance, and other Brazilian dance fusion styles.
DRUMMING FOR DANCERS
This year, we are super-excited to offer a long-awaited additional element of ‘DRUMMING FOR DANCERS’ with Holly Prest. After your exciting dance workout with Adriana, you’ll finally get your hands on the drums as Holly guides the group through the basics of Afro-Brazilian percussion playing, making reference to special features from the music you have been dancing to. Developing a musical ear is a key part of any dancer’s development, and Holly is keen to share an insight having worked alongside dancers for many years to co-choreograph elaborate percussion and dance performance. No experience is necessary (in fact, the less experience the better!).
