Global Grooves is excited to invite One Voice Music to deliver this extra special project as part of our touring festival season at CarFest South in Aid of BBC Children in Need.

The ẸDỪN ARÁ content is highly energetic & FUN, and based on Raz & Marcia’s interest in & knowledge of different Brazilian & Cuban music & dance styles, that have hugely influenced their professional careers. This project is culturally informative and provides some artistic challenges for participants, enabling them to develop their own skills.

There will be a 4-hour workshop/rehearsal on the Saturday followed by a costumed parade on the Sunday morning. Participants are invited to arrive on Friday to enjoys the days festivities. CarFest South is in aid of BBC Children in Need a incredible and worthwhile event to contribute to.

COURSE CONTENT

The content is a fusion of ideas drawn from Candomblé rhythms, Samba, Maracatu, Samba Reggae & Ijexá grooves from Brazil with elements from Cuban music such as Bata rhythms, Rumba, Conga & Salsa. The percussion grooves, played on Batucada instruments (surdos, repiniques, snares, tamborims, bells, shakers & timbas), are colourful & melodic, combining patterns & phrases creatively arranged to produce exciting dance grooves. The choreography, arranged to fit the music, draws on traditional Afro-Brazilian dance movements.
