The Indian Cultural Association of Dorset

The Indian Cultural Association of Dorset ( ICAD)  is a Registered Charitable Trust for the enrichment of local residents, and is open to all who would like to add cultural activities to their life.

We are delighted to welcome them tho this years Carnival by The Sea.

ICAD promotes integration and peaceful co-existence of people from different cultures and religious backgrounds. ICAD aspires to advance the ancient but unique living cultures of India through its art forms such as music, dance, literature, yoga, meditation and spiritual living.

Presently, members and their families meet every month, though the Trust also organises regular events celebrating festivals and other notable national occasions.

There is an interesting calendar for this year and all are welcome to attend these functions. So far, our programme has been thoroughly welcomed, are well attended and enjoyed by attendees of all ages. It is the vision of ICAD to be a place of cultural exchange and a meeting place for anyone inspired by the cultures/philosophies that originated in India and from all over the world.

The organisation is also engaged in community service projects through voluntary service initiatives in health, education and charitable causes in the local areas. Some of the Trustees are in liaison with local authorities to organise such activities widely. Other social projects like meals for the homeless are ongoing.

ICAD fulfils the long-standing need in the area for a single organisation that not only encompasses the rich and wide spectrum of cultures from all regions of the sub-continent, but also opens arms to all who are interested in the same. It offers a common place for worship and celebration to local communities.

Many of our members, for themselves and/or their children, are keen to learn about related literature, the arts, languages or dance so there are suitable facilities. In our monthly gatherings, for example, there is usually a session for young kids to interact in meaningful storytelling and opportunities for them to sing or recite verses. The focus is to develop positive human values in the young ones.

Moreover, there are several talented individuals who like to light up the stage with their performances now and then!

The trust plans to invite distinguished individuals to foster positive cultural exchange, philosophical discourses and holistic living principles. Demonstrations, workshops and courses will be included through the year. These activities can enrich our lives in numerous ways, benefitting all who participate.
