A Short Course in Pan-Brazilian Dance

In this course we will study the essence of Brazilian dance taking a close look at many different traditional and more modern styles of dance from Brazil. This course will give an in depth overview of Brazilian dance drawing upon elements of the following traditions: Samba, Samba Rock, Samba de Rodo, Samba Rasgado, Zouk, Forrozouk, Brazilian Salsa, Puxada de rede, Maracatu, Maracatu Rural, Afoxés, Catira, Frevo, Baião, Coco, Caboclinhos, Xaxado, Xoti, Forró, Ciranda, Afro-Dance, Indian Dance, Chegança, Pachata, Bolero, Merengue and Dança Sagradas.

This is an excellent course to develop a greater insight into the world of Brazilian dance.
Some dance experience is necessary for this course. Beginners – advanced dancers will be welcomed.

About The Tutor

Vera Oliveira – São Paulo, Brazil.

Vera has a wealth of experience in modern, contemporary and traditional Brazilian dance and choreography. She is the principal choreographer of the world famous youth performing arts group MENINOS DO MORUMBI and founder of ERÊS DE ÉBANO. Vera has studied dance internationally including styles from Senegal, India, Switzerland, Bali, Belgium, America and Argentina to name a few. Vera has dedicated her life to the research and development of dance and keeping these cultures and traditions alive by passing this knowledge on to her students.
