The arrangements will draw upon influences from Brazilian Folkloric styles, West African percussion, Samba, Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae, drum and bass and Jungle.

About this course:

In this course we will study several different percussion and dance arrangements rooted in West-African traditions and follow the development of these styles over to Brazil and finally landing in the world of Funk. We will discover how African rooted traditions have influenced the development of modern funky Brazilian grooves and bring everything together for a one of performance at the Chorley Festival of Afro-Brazilian Drumming and Dance or “Big Drum Day!”.
