We don’t want to give the game away to much here with workshop content but this will be a series of very special and lovely evenings so make sure you clear your diaries!

About Almamy Camera (Maitre Samsou)

Maitre Samsou is renowned in Guinea Conakry and the Gambia as a living exponent and repository of traditional Guinean music, Mandinka and Fula/ rhythms. For 30 years he has performed and taught throughout Africa, enthralling and delighting spectators and students. He plays and teaches djembe, doundouns, krin (log drum), bolon, boucarabou, hand percussion, body percussion as well as traditional dance, choreography, song, mime and theatre.

Samsou was a performer, teacher and director of Ballets Africains national troupe of Guinea.
Seconded to train national troupes of Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau and was instrumental in forming a new national troupe Les Percussions de Guinea and performed alongside artists such as Sekouba Bambino Diabate, Ibro Diabate, Kerfala Kante and Yaya Bangoura.
