Funk Carioca with Roberto Soli
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro’s Zona Norte, Roberto is a dancer, choreographer and researcher of Funk Carioca, Brazilian music and dance genre. He has taken his work across the world, sharing the dances born and shaped within Rio’s funk culture.
In this workshop, we’ll explore several styles of Funk Carioca, the high-energy music and dance genre that was born out of Rio de Janeiro and has since gone global with it’s infectious moves and sounds. Dive deep into the culture, rhythms, groove and movement vocabulary of the style exploring not just the steps, but the energy and expression behind the style, straight from the source.
This is an open-level masterclass designed for everyone.
We’re delighted to be hosting Roberto here at The Vale, Greater Manchester for 1 of 2 UK stops on his European Tour – his only stop north of London.
