What will volunteers do?

Volunteers will play a vital role in researching, documenting, and supporting the creation of the project archive. Tasks may include:

  • Assisting with oral history interviews
  • Researching participants and helping schedule interviews
  • Gathering supporting materials such as images and documents
  • Supporting consent, documentation, and cataloguing processes
  • Assisting with editing and transcription
  • Contributing to archival research and community storytelling

Training in oral history methods will be provided, making this a great opportunity for anyone interested in heritage, research, or community arts.

What is the volunteer commitment?

  • 1 x training day on Sunday 14th June which includes guidance on interview technique and using the equipment
  • Flexible research and recording hours from June to August
  • Editing, transcribing and archiving opportunities from September to December for interested parties
  • Interviews will mostly take place within Tameside and Oldham, travel expenses will be reimbursed
