Dancing Threads needs your heritage story!

Who can take part?

Global Grooves would like to hear from:

  • Group leaders
    Current leaders of dance groups including Morris and South Asian dance who are willing to take part in short, professionally filmed video interviews.
  • Elders and long-term participants
    Individuals with long-standing connections to these traditions who can share stories of how practices have changed over time.
  • Community members with connected stories
    People with insights into the wider cultural and historical contexts surrounding dance traditions, including links to migration, industrial and mill heritage, and community institutions such as mosques, temples and civic celebrations.

Get involved

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Share their stories through audio or video interviews
  • Contribute photographs, documents or other materials
  • Help shape a lasting cultural archive
  • Attend the final art exhibition and celebration event

All materials will be collected with full consent and carefully catalogued before being added to a digital archive and shared with a partner heritage organisation.
