Take Part in Tameside Christmas Lantern Parade 2023!
We are delighted to bring to you a series of FREE lantern making sessions (Dates below) so you can take part in TTameside Christmas Lantern Parade 2023, 5:30pm 18th November.
Lantern Making sessions will take place in Ashton Town Centre on the 3rd, 11th and 15th November and Mossley on the 11th November (further details below).
Children and their adults are welcome to come along to one of the free drop-in lantern making sessions and create a beautiful lantern that will be illuminated as part of a spectacular final parade. In return all we ask for is your commitment to join together with hundreds of other local residents to bring the Xmas spirit to Tameside in style on the 18th November.

Our expert artist will guide you through the process of making fabulous lanterns, all equipment and materials are provided and all welcome (children must be accompanied / helped by their adults).
Parade Day
All lantern bearers will need to bring along their creations to the muster point on Stamford Street W at the Car Park next to Ashton Old Baths between 4:30 and 5pm on the 18th November. You will be given lights to illuminate your lanterns, join with your sections then set off on an incredible illuminated parade including music, dance, giant puppets and carnival costume. From Giant polar bears to stilt walking fairies, Incredible street musicians to a giant Jack Frost puppet; It will be a magical moment for all involved. The parade will culminate in Father Christmas lighting up the tree and town by turning on the big switch!
