We’re currently not open for applications to the project, but we’ll update this page – and our social media channels – when we are.
Future Leaders is an innovative training programme in music, dance, and visual arts for emerging young artists aged 12-25.
Working with likeminded artists already in the industry, participants have the opportunity to further skills and subject knowledge, get stuck into practical tasks to challenge and inspire them, receive a qualification, and gain a deeper understanding of what goes on in the industry behind-the-scenes.
Successful applicants to the scheme come from all over the UK, are usually aged between 12 and 25, and undertake residential weekends of tailored workshop sessions to explore further activities to develop at home and with the support of a home arts organisation.
A new wave of Future Leaders activity typically takes place every two years, and we have supported over 120 Future Leaders to date.
But the programme itself is not the end of the journey. In fact, it’s often only the beginning.
We continue to mentor Future Leaders, providing them employment opportunities, either within our core team – our office manager and one of our producers are former Future Leaders, for example – or through our wider programme of activities. Many of our performers and workshop leaders have undertaken the training, and new arts projects and collaborations have arisen as a result of the network.
