Emma Marsh

Emma Marsh, Percussion director

Percussion director

“I am a multi instrumentalist and producer with diverse influences and styles eg. jazz, afro swing, hip hop, world music.

Percussion inspired me as a young person and helped me to be in touch with my heritage, where I spent lots of time learning and shadowing my mentors and other musicians. This brought around opportunities for me to write my own percussion arrangements and teach them in different groups, and develop as a teacher/leader.

When producing I feel I have creative freedom, where I can fuse unlikely styles together to create my own sound, whilst still learning from traditional styles, and I love to mix that with solos of my live instruments.

As a leader I love to bring out other people’s creativity and passions so that when working together we have the best outcome and make lifelong memories like that of mine when I was young and being inspired by my mentors.”

We have had the pleasure of working with Emma since she was around 10 years old. Emma completed our first ever Future Leaders programme in 2014, and has since become one of our lead artists and school workshops facilitators. Emma has studied and performed with Global Grooves all around the UK and in The Gambia.
