Hey there! My name is George, and I am part of the brass/reeds cohort this year.
I am a player in the Friendly Brass Band, as well as my school band. (I also have my own band, fittingly dubbed “Sack ‘o’ Taters”). Aside from brass, I also play guitar, and I LOVE playing drums, which is a new and Future Leaders inspired discovery!
I first heard of Global Grooves from my mum, who has done some work with Global Grooves. She said I should apply for Future Leaders, and so I did. I knew that it would be very competitive and I feel really privileged to be a part of this year’s cohort.
I love doing FL because I get to explore a load of music and art forms that I’ve never seen or heard of. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the types of music but my favourite has definitely been the Coco, because of the funky brass and rhythms. Also I have made lots of new pals and contacts, and I hope I will have the pleasure of working with some of them later on.
