By the end of this one day course participants will have developed 1-2 rhythms on each instrument with ‘breaks’ and will have a greater understanding of their function within a Brazilian percussion group. Towards the end of the course we will bring each element together to produce a short arrangement using at least three different instruments.
Instruments for this course will include:
• Timbau – Brazilian Hand drum.
• Repinique
• Tamborim
Time permitting we may add extra elements such as Caixa or Surdo.
Don’t worry if your favourite instrument is not listed here. We plan to deliver future courses to cover all the instruments within the Bateria and beyond.
Level
This course is designed for *beginner to intermediate players although there will be limited spaces for the more *advanced percussionist wishing to learn more about the theory of percussion arrangements and how to apply this to their writing and directing.
*Please contact us in advance if you are a more experienced percussionist wanting to join this course.
*For beginners some experience of percussion is recommended.
