Join Global Grooves in collaboration with The Den Festival, in a journey of learning Carnival rhythms. A multi-talented musician Emma Marsh (Fuzia) will share her expertise teaching Afro-Brazilian Carnival beats at 4 drumming workshops across the festival. Two taster sessions on 17th May from 12-2 pm and 24th May from 12-2 pm. If you catch the drumming bug after the taster session, you can stick around 3-5 pm to continue your learning for a full day of drumming extravaganza!
The Den Festival is taking place over four weekends, launching on the 9th May and running until 1st June 2025. There are lots of things going on each weekend such as workshops, shows, comedy, music, dance and drama. The things going on have been chosen by local people of Tameside who have been working with the Royal Exchange Theatre in volunteer roles called Ambassadors and Champions.
The Den Festival is at Stalybridge Civic Hall for four weekends:
Come along to the workshop, either half the day or along for the full day! The more you put in, the more you will get out! We want to encourage ALL participants of the workshops to perform for the final night of the DEN Festival in Stalybridge 2025 on 1st June. Celebrating shared gifts throughout the festival, think fun costumes, great energy and a chance to show off your new drumming skills!
Workshops are open to anyone 11+ of all abilities and experience levels.

Costumes 15:30 – 17:00
Performance 17:00 – 17:45
