A three week course in samba studies. This course is designed to give an introduction to playing the various instruments of the samba bateria, enabling players to develop their setup and skills whilst building up stamina in a 15-piece bateria. Featured instruments include surdo, caixa, repique, tamborims and chocalho.

On Sunday 30th April, Global Grooves will be bringing a bit of Brazilian Carnival to Manchester Airport and cheering on everyone whose participating in the BA fun run around the Airport.

Global Grooves founder and lead artists Eraldo is delighted to be visiting their home-base at Huddersfield University to deliver this special one off class, open to all. 

The workshop will be suitable for all levels of ability and all are welcome.

DANCE
Following on from a brilliant workshop last year, Global Grooves are pleased to announce an exciting new workshop to enjoy and explore Afro-Brazilian dance with Adriana Rosso. This class is for anyone who is curious about Brazilian dance and culture. Come along and enjoy dancing to live music, and have fun in a Brazilian way! This class is perfect for beginners, improvers or more advanced dancers. Afro-Brazilian dance fuses traditional rhythms and swing from all over Brazil. The participants will have an opportunity to explore dance styles such as Samba, Samba-Reggae, Maracatu, Frevo, Axe, Coco, Maxixe, Caboclinho, Orixá Dance, and other Brazilian dance fusion styles.

Following the success our 2016 residential programme, Global Grooves and La Timbala present a third weekend of intensive Orisha/Orixa music study. This weekend aims to expand our view of Orisha music by including a more in-depth look at ritual Orisha/Orixa music in Cuba and Brazil. This special weekend is set in the beautiful Lancashire countryside in Saddleworth, on the outskirts of the Peak District.
