This class is for anyone who is curious about Brazilian dance and culture. Come along and enjoy dancing to live music, and have fun in a Brazilian way! This class is perfect for beginners, improvers or more advanced dancers.

Afro- Brazilian dance fuses traditional rhythms and swing from all over Brazil. The participants will have an opportunity to explore dance styles such as Samba, Samba-Reggae, Maracatu, Frevo, Axe, coco, Maxixe, Caboclinho, Dance of orixas and other Brazilian dance fusion styles.

The summer season is fast approaching and we have some fantastic courses at Band on the Wall.

We have a weekend of events in May for you to get involved in as part of a Global Grooves fundraiser. All of the proceeds of these workshops and classes will be going towards the completion of our new arts Centre called The Vale in Mossley, Greater Manchester, due to open to the public in summer 2015. Whether you have always wanted to hit a drum but never done so, are a dancer wanting to give drumming a go, or a seasoned player, this weekend is suited for everyone.

Global Grooves is a registered charity focussed on delivering high-quality specialist training for the community in inspirational international performance arts from around the globe.

We would love your support in this fantastic new resource as well as offer you the chance to learn some great new skills. Everybody wins!

We have built up a wonderful network of people that have been coming to our events and supporting us over the years; the growth of this network has given us the inspiration and courage to think big, and for this we would like to thank you with some very affordable training opportunities.

We appreciate how hard it can be to find certain kinds of training and opportunities without having to travel long distances or pay out a large course fee.

This Spring, we are offering a brand new (and free!) course in the latest creative digital software – including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator – taking place over an 8-week course. You will use our Apple Mac suite and absolutely NO experience is required to join. The course includes tailored one-to-one mentoring (including free advice and CV writing, business planning and more) to help you create a personal development plan to make your goals a reality and help you stand out to employers.

WE INVITE FILM-MAKERS AND VIDEO ARTISTS TO COLLABORATE

DO YOU WANT TO SUPPORT ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND CLIMATE JUSTICE? OR DO YOU LIKE WORLD MUSIC, STREET CULTURE OR AFRO-BRAZILIAN CARNIVAL?

The artist Kooj Chuhan (UK / India) is creating an interactive digital art installation connecting Brazilian environmentalist Chico Mendes with environmental justice issues across the world. It will be made from audio and visual material from many people and it will use interactive objects and projections that visitors can actually ‘play’ like percussion. The exhibition will take place 28th Feb – 21st March 2015 at a new Carnival Arts Centre in Manchester (UK), run by Global Grooves.
