Following the success of a series of Candomblé workshops and Master-classes delivered by Global Grooves we are proud to announce the next instalment in this series of intensive study. Delivered by Global Grooves artistic director Leon Patel this 8 week course comprises the study of several different ritual percussion and song sequences from the Candomblé tradition – specific styles to be announced.

Global Grooves presents our first intensive Candomblé residential study weekend, celebrating the Orixá cultures of Brazil through percussion and song. The weekend will cover several different sequences from Candomblé Ketu, Candomblé Jejé and Candomblé Angola traditions. This special weekend is set in the beautiful Lancashire countryside in Saddleworth, on the outskirts of the Peak District.

Here is the groove-formation! Explore the role of the percussionist in hip-hop, dance and pop styles. A new course for players of all levels. Fun, friendly and informative! Use congas with a selection of other percussion instruments and learn their importance and place in today’s chart music. Learn new skills and techniques from two of the UK’s finest players. Create percussive beats and grooves in small group settings and fit them into a full band ‘groove’ with expert coaching from Lea and Chris.
